HOW TO USE THIS DOCUMENT
------------------------

To view this file onscreen in Notepad, maximize the Notepad window.

To print this file, open it in Notepad or another word processor, click
the File menu, and then click Print.



CDinfo.exe 
==========

CDinfo.exe is a tool that can determine the ability of a CD-ROM drive to 
successfully read a disc.  It is a console application you should run in 
an MS-DOS window. 


To use CDinfo.exe:

	1. Click Start, click Run, and then type:

	   command 

	2. Press ENTER.
	3. At the command prompt, type:

	   :\tools\pssutil\cdinfo.exe

	4. Press ENTER.


   Note
   To save this information to a text file, type the following at the 
   command prompt:

   :\tools\pssutil\CDinfo.exe >C:\tstinfo.txt 

   and then press ENTER. This saves the output of this test to the Tstinfo.txt file 
   on drive C on your computer.



Information and Error Message Dialog Boxes
------------------------------------------

	* Number of CD-ROM drives found by WMPCD.DLL.
	* The device name.
	* Read Rate - The rate at which this drive is able to read a disc.
	* Read Rate with error correction turned on: - The rate at which 
	  the drive can read a disc when error correction is turned on.
	* Digital Play - Confirms that the read rate is 1X or over.
	* Correct Jitter - If OK is listed here, the device should be able 
	  to digitally read with error correction on.
	* Read size count: 16 - The maximum usable read size for this CD-ROM drive.
	* Read Size #: The read size chosen to use with Windows Media Player.
